If your PC and SMDR Port are in different rooms, then you can use the following configuration:

Note:
The adapters and patch cables required below come standard with the CallTraQ System.

If you downloaded an evaluation version, you can either source these items yourself, or order them separately from Telcom FX. See below for more information.

First :
Have a local Network Cabling or Telephone company install a standard CAT5, 8 Conductor cable from your PC to your Telephone System. Have the company terminate the cable at each end with a standard RJ45 Network Jack as shown here.

The above picture may look complicated, but it is really very simple.
First lets look at the 3 components ( listed above A
-B)

A
Standard RJ45 Network Patch Cords between the RJ45 Adapters and Network Jack

B
RJ45 Adapters to connect the 1st RJ45 Patch Cord (A) to your SMDR Port and Network Jack, and to connect the 2nd RJ45 Patch Cord (A) to your PC COM Port and Network Jack. You may need a 25 Pin Male or Female, or a 9 Pin Male or Female to mate with your Phone System SMDR Port.

The correct connector will be determined and sent when you place your order

That's it.

If your Telephone company has enabled your SMDR Port, then the data is now available to be captured by the PC. Continue on to install the CallTraQ Data Capture Software.
