If your PC and SMDR Port are in different rooms, then you can use one of the following configurations:

The adapters and cables required below come standard with the CallTraQ System.

The CallStor IV Secure Call Buffer Unit is equipped with both a standard Serial Port as well as a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port. You can use either one to connect the Call Buffer to your PC.

Have a local Network Cabling or Telephone company install a standard CAT5, 8 Conductor cable from your PC to your Telephone System. Have the company terminate the cable at each end with a standard RJ45 Network Jack as shown here.

Note:

This is standard Network Cable and Jacks, however it is not being

used for standard Networking.

If Connecting via PC Serial Port:




The above picture may look complicated, but it is really very simple.
First lets look at the 3 components ( listed above A-C)

A	Standard RJ45 Network Patch Cord.between the CallStor IV and the Network Jack, and between the Network Patch Cord and the RJ45 Adapter at the Phone System end.
B	RJ45 Adapter to connect the RJ45 Patch Cord (A) to your SMDR Port. You may need a 25 Pin Male or Female, or a 9 Pin Male or Female to mate with your Phone System SMDR Port. The correct connector will be determined and sent when you place your order
C	Serial Cable (Standard 9 Pin Male to 9 Pin Female) to connect the PC COM Port to the CallStor IV.

Simply:

1.   Plug the serial cable (C) from your PC COM: Port into the CallStor IV.

2.   Plug the 1st Patch Cable (A) from the CallStor IV into the Network Jack.

3.   Plug the 2nd Patch Cable (A) from the Network Jack into the RJ45 Adapter

4.   Plug the RJ45 Adapter (B) into the Phone System SMDR Port.

That's all there is!

If Connecting via PC USB Port:

C	USB Cable to connect the PC to the CallStor IV.

Simply:

1.   Plug the USB cable (C) from your PC USB Port into the CallStor IV.

2.   Plug the 1st Patch Cable (A) from the CallStor IV into the Network Jack.

3.   Plug the 2nd Patch Cable (A) from the Network Jack into the RJ45 Adapter

4.   Plug the RJ45 Adapter (B) into the Phone System SMDR Port.

That's all there is!
