The basic CallTraQ system captures data from your phone system and stores it to your PC Hard Drive in real time. As each call is completed, the SMDR Port of your phone system will generate a "Call Record". This record has all the required information to describe the call. This includes the time of the call, duration, number dialed, etc.
In order to ensure that this information is captured, the CallTraQ System installs a small software module on the PC which must be running at all times. If for some reason this module is not running (PC is Off, PC/Windows has crashed, etc) then the "Call Record" flowing out of the Telephone System will not be saved to the PC hard drive. This "Call Record" would then be permanently lost.
Although loss of data may be a rare occurrence we all know that PC's do crash, and if it is absolutely critical that you do not loose any data (because you are billing clients etc) then we strongly recommend upgrading your system to use our CallStor IV - Secure Call Buffer..
The CallStor IV - Secure Call Buffer is a small device, about the size of a Modem, that connects between your Phone System and your PC.
This device stores each call record it receives from the Telephone system into "Non-Volatile" memory. The CallStor IV - Secure Call Buffer can store thousands of call records. On a periodic basis, the CallTraQ Software loaded on your PC will retrieve data from the CallStor IV - Secure Call Buffer and store it on your PC Hard Drive. This is done using a special protocol, to ensure that no data will ever be lost, even if a power failure occurs in the middle of the retrieval process.
