SMDR Port
Previous  Top  Next

An SMDR port is usually a Serial Port which is part of your Telephone System either as standard equipment, or as an option. The only exception is the Nortel Networks BCM, which uses File Transfer (FTP) to provide SMDR data, and does not use a serial port. Click here for more information about the Nortel BCM.

Most Phone Systems implement the SMDR Serial Port with a 25 Pin Female Connector like the one pictured below:

A few phone systems such as the Nortel Norstar implement the SMDR Serial Port with a 9 Pin Female Connector like the one pictured below:

I cannot find my SMDR Port. What should I do ?

You will need to contact your Telephone Supplier and discuss this with them.

If you have an SMDR Port on your system, ask for the details on were it is and how it is set-up.

If you do not have an SMDR Port, ask for the costs involved in adding one to your system.
